NEW YEAR NEW YOU PT. 1

What Are the Benefits of Flax Seed Powder?

What Are the Benefits of Flax Seed Powder?thumbnail
What Are the Benefits of Flax Seed Powder?

Flax seeds resemble sesame seeds but are darker in color. Flax seeds come from a plant that produces beautiful bluish flowers. The plants are native to Egypt and have been around for thousands of years. There is evidence that the Romans used flax seed in the first century A.D. Whole, flax seeds will not provide much benefit for you so they have to be ground. Once ground, flax seeds can be added to a salad, cereal, or a smoothie. It is recommended that a person take 2 tbsps. of ground flax seed for every 100 pounds that he weighs.
  1. High Fiber

    • Flax seed is filled with fiber, which is beneficial in many ways. People that take flax seed powder find that they feel full longer, especially when it is taken with a meal. The fiber properties also make flax seed powder a good laxative. Once laxatives take effect and elimination occurs it aids in weight loss.

    Lecithin

    • Flax seed powder is also full of lecithin. Lecithin breaks up the fat that your food has left in the digestive tract. These are unwanted fats that are trapped in your body until the lecithin helps get rid of them so they do not turn into body fat.

    Vitamins

    • Flax seed is filled with protein, B vitamins, zinc, potassium, magnesium and essential fatty acids. This is important because the only way to get good fats in your body is through an outside dietary source as the body does not create good fats on its own. Flax seed powder also is the best way to get phytoestrogens, which have properties that fend off bacteria, tumors, viral infections and funguses. Flax seed powder is an unmatched antioxidant.

    Health Benefits

    • According to Bio Nature, flax seed powder has been shown to help cardiovascular health, reduce blood pressure, lower bad cholesterol and prevent blood clots that could cause heart attacks and strokes. Flax seed powder also reduces inflammation in the body, improves the immune system and helps asthma sufferers.

    Other Benefits

    • Flax seed powder relieves ulcers, irritable bowel and helps colon health. It helps the body absorb calcium, which is important for a shorter recovery period for bruises, sprains and muscle related injuries. Flax seed powder has been known to help some people relieve depression and can help some women with menopausal symptoms.

Living From the Future (Prayer)

Phillipians 3:15
Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you.

The Prayer

Father God, In the name of Jesus, May the motivations of my life come from the future you have appointed for me rather than from the past that I've lived. let everyone of my fellow Christians be mature in this matter too, along with me. If, I or they, are lacking in anyway, please disclose this to us, and change us! Help us to hold true to what we have already attained. Don't let let us throw this away! In the name of our Lord Jesus I ask these things and pray that you will grant us a spirit of perseverance unto eternal life. Amen

Meditate On What God Has to Say About You!!

Meditate on What God Has to Say About You
~Sermon Notes Joel Olsteen
Isaiah 26:3
Philippians 4:8
If it is not a good report do not dwell on it. We know who holds the future. Trust in the Lord! Meditate only on good things. God is in control. What you allow to play in your mind will determine the life you live. Remember not total fear but total peace. Don’t meditate on the problem but rather meditate on God’s promises. Realize that you can go to the next level if you would change what you allow to play in your mind. Say these things: God has me in the palm of his hand. All things work together for my good!
Happiness starts in your thinking! Think yourself Happy! Rise up in your thinking and put on a new attitude. Your greatest days are ahead. Your greatest victories are still in your future. When you wake up in the morning set your mind in the right direction. If you don’t set your mind the enemy will. The way we start are day determines the type of day that we will have. If you start your day off with negative thoughts you will have a lousy day! Remember this is the day that the Lord has made… Rejoice and be glad in it. Believe that you are strong, healthy, talented, creative and well able. Believe what God has to say about you. Guard the gateway to your mind. Fill your mind with God’s word be in agreement with what God and his favor will shine down upon you. When you dwell on the negative you activate your faith in the wrong direction. If you fill your mind with good thoughts there will be no room for the negative thoughts to creep in. GOD’S FAVOR SURROUNDS YOU LIKE A SHIELD!!!
If you give CAN’T a room/ CAN has no room to stay. If you give FEAR a room/FAITH gets left outside. If you give LACK, “BARELY GET BY”, and “I’LL NEVER MAKE IT” in there will be no room for INCREASE, PROMOTION, and ABUNDANCE. Get rid of wrong thoughts and allow what God says about you to have a permanent home. On purpose think power thoughts.

4 Ways to Reduce Your Breast Cancer Risk

4 Ways to Reduce Your Breast Cancer Risk
By Edward C. Geehr, M.D.
Published October 02, 2008
New research and advances in technology are improving detection and pinpointing ways to reduce your risk of breast cancer. During National Breast Cancer Month in October, LifeScript explores some of the latest developments in a disease that kills 40,000 women annually. Plus, find out your breast cancer risk…
About 185,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed this year, and more than 40,000 women will die from the disease. The government and private industry are continuously looking for new ways to prevent and detect breast cancer, from simple aspirin, to vegetables, to molecular breast imaging. Here are the latest developments.
Eat Cancer-Fighting Foods New studies continue to explore the link between breast cancer and diet. Eating cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli and cauliflower, may help to lower the risk of developing breast cancer, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports.
In a study of 6,000 Chinese women, those who consumed the most quantities of Chinese cabbage and white turnips had a lower risk of breast cancer than those who ate the least amount of the cruciferous vegetables. The benefit was greatest among women who carried a gene variant that correlates with higher breast cancer risk. The authors called for more research to identify other groups who may benefit from the healthy veggies.
Resveratrol is the focus of much research on cellular aging. Now a study in the Journal of Cancer Prevention Research has found that it might also suppress abnormal cell growth that can lead to breast cancer. It is found in grape skins, red wine and grape juice. Some think it is the key to unlocking longevity because it’s thought to mimic the effects of calorie restriction, which is known to extend the lifespan of laboratory animals.
Here’s how resveratrol may work: Researchers believe many types of breast cancer are fueled by the presence of estrogen. Without estrogen, the estrogen receptors in breast cells just sit there quietly. But when estrogen is around, it enters the cell and binds to the receptor. This new combination of estrogen plus receptor gets very active and actually binds to sections of the DNA in the cell nucleus.
This is where the trouble seems to begin. Some genes along the DNA strand can become activated by this binding, guiding the manufacture of new proteins in the cell, which can lead to cell damage and ultimately, cancer.
Here’s where naturally occurring resveratrol comes in: Researchers believe it induces cells to create an enzyme that interferes with estrogen’s effect on cellular DNA, and that, in turn, may block a cascade of cellular changes that can eventually result in breast cancer formation.
Pop an AspirinSimple aspirin, one of the most common over-the-counter medications in the country, may reduce the risk of developing a type of breast cancer. In a study published in the online journal Breast Cancer Research, an aspirin taken daily reduced the risk of estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer by 16%. The study included more than 127,000 women aged 51 to 72 with no history of cancer who participated in the U.S. National Institutes of Health-AARP Diet and Health research. Aspirin falls into the general category of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), but the benefit does not appear to extend to other NSAIDs, such as ibuprofen or naproxen.
Estrogen receptor positive cancers (cancer cells that need estrogen to grow) represent about 85% of all breast cancers. No link was found between aspirin and reduction in estrogen receptor negative tumors (cells that are not usually affected by estrogen and progesterone levels).
But before you jump on the aspirin-a-day bandwagon, cancer experts have urged caution. The American Cancer Society, for example, does not recommend using aspirin for cancer prevention because of potentially harmful side effects such as gastrointestinal bleeding. It recommends that you consult with your physician and weigh the benefits against the potential risks.
Advances in Breast ImagingOn the horizon are some new imaging techniques designed to improve the detection of breast cancer. One is known as Stereo Mammography, also called 3-D mammography. Research suggests it might be more sensitive at detecting breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue. About half of women younger than 50 and a third older than 50 have dense breasts, and sometimes the tissue can be too dense to give a clear picture.
Traditional mammograms provide two-dimensional images of a surface that has depth and density. Stereo mammograms allow radiologists to see the X-ray images in 3-D using stereoscopic glasses, much like in the movie theater. The radiologist gets two different views of the breast tissue that the brain organizes as a single, detailed image, potentially improving the sensitivity of the mammogram.
In an unpublished three-year Emory University study, radiologists compared a conventional mammogram with a 3-D mammogram in women at risk for breast cancer. The study reported a 20% improvement in cancer detection rates and a 45% decrease in false alarms. The 3-D mammograms also had 79% accuracy, while standard mammograms had 57%.
Another innovative approach to breast imaging observes how the breast tissue interacts with a short-acting radioactive tracer. Cancer cells absorb more of the tracer than normal cells. This is the same agent used by cardiologists for many years to image the heart during stress tests. The tracer momentarily collects in breast tumors, lighting up when observed with a gamma camera. Researchers at the Mayo Clinic have been studying so-called molecular breast imaging, or MBI.
An initial study compared MBI with expensive and time-consuming MRIs in high-risk women, and found the MBI was nearly as effective as MRIs at detecting tumors, but with much less time and expense.
Next, the Mayo researchers compared MBI to conventional mammography. The results showed that MBI can detect three times as many cancers in women with dense breast tissue as mammograms.
MBI is not yet recommended as a primary screening tool over traditional mammograms. But researchers suggest that it could be used in high-risk women in whom dense breast tissue precludes a clear image with mammography. More studies are planned to establish guidelines for use.
Get FitYou can’t do much about your genetic risk or the fact that the risk increases with age. But you can control the lifestyle choices that influence your risk.
Exercise and weight loss reduce risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that the combination also reduces your breast cancer risk, as obesity after menopause increases the risk. And you can further reduce your risk with regular exercise. Studies suggest that three hours of vigorous exercise each week reduces breast cancer risk by 20%.
Moderate amounts of alcohol may improve cardiovascular risk factors, but where breast cancer is concerned, there is no safe amount to drink. Drinking a single alcoholic drink each day slightly increases the risk.
Any exposure to supplemental estrogen increases breast cancer risk, including birth control pills and combination hormone therapy after hysterectomy or after menopause. If hormone therapy is administered, most experts recommend that it be taken at the lowest dose for the shortest period of time.
What's Your Breast Cancer Risk? The biggest risk factor for developing breast cancer is simply being a woman, though a small percentage of men develop it, too. Fortunately, with better screening processes for early detection, breast cancer doesn't have to be fatal.

OUR DAILY BREAD

School of Hard Knocks
Taken from OUR DAILY BREAD April 7, 2011
No chastening seems to be joyful for the present…; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness.   –Hebrews 12:11
Of all my childhood memories, one stands out above the others. While I have no idea what the teacher said. I clearly remember telling her to “shut up”. She sent me home, so I got up and left my kindergarten class to walk the half-block home. Walking down the sidewalk, I saw my mother weeding the garden behind our house. I was now faced with a strategic decision –continue on my way and tell my mother why I was home early from school, or go back and face my teacher.
When I returned to the classroom, I was immediately escorted to the bathroom where my teacher washed my mouth out with soap. That kind of discipline probably wouldn’t happen today, but take it from me, it was effective! To this day I am acutely sensitive about the impact of my words.
God is passionately interested in our positive growth as his children.  At times he needs to confront us with unpleasant circumstances to catch our attention and reorient our lives to more consistently produce the “peaceable fruit of righteousness” (Hebrews 12:11)
Don’t resist God’s correct hand. Respond to his reproofs with thankfulness that He loves you enough to care about what kind of person you are becoming. –Joe Stowell
Because our father’s heart is grieved
Each time we go astray,
He lifts his chastening hand in love
To help us to his way. –D.De Haan

God’s correction is our hope for a better life.

The Angel of the Lord is already here!

Hello everyone it has been a while sorry it has been so long.... I wanted to share with you the profound message that Apostle Raul Avila shared with us this past sunday. The annointing of God is truly upon this man..... you should google him :)

The Angel of the Lord is Already here
Apostle Raul
9/11/2011
Acts 12:1-9; 19-25
What you do is not finished with you… the vision starts with you and continues on as your legacy. God will see it to fruition even after you are gone. Be determined and committed to go on to the end. Have commitment without limits. Remember the work of the Lord is a strong tower. When God is is working in your life and doing something great at the same time great trouble and tribulation will arise. HAVE KINGDOM FOCUS!! Try and see things from God’s perspective. The days of the Lords movement and great visitation are upon us. When you put the Lord first and obey you will see his favor. There is authority in the power of God!! In times when God is moving the enemy will try and put you in prison.
Prison= strange place or a narrow place
The enemy will try and put you in a narrow place a prison in your mind to stunt your growth and fill you with doubt and unbelief.
Prison= hostile voices place of hostility
The enemy will try and put you in a place where you feel like everyone and everything is against you with the words that there are saying, words that are mean and aggressive.
Prison= a dark place of being or feeling alone
The enemy will try and make you feel down and sad even suicidal. He wants to put you in a strange and uncomfortable place PRISON!!
PRISON is not your final destination. The valley of the Shadow of death is not your final destination YOU WILL GO THROUGH!!! The table of God is for you! In the next three months you will be in a position of overcoming!

A Weekly Cleaning System that Works!

A Weekly Cleaning Schedule is the backbone of staying on top of clutter. It frees up time since regular routines create order. The goal is to stay ahead of the dust and clutter without much effort.
Here’s what you want to do in Weekly Cleaning so your house stays clean:
l. Empty Wastebaskets. Believe it or not, this is a sign of all clean homes and offices. Get your money’s worth from your weekly garbage pickup by tossing out everything you can.
2. Change Bed Linens. Instead of tackling the Herculean task of changing all the beds on the same day, try changing no more than two beds per day. Set up a schedule for changing bed linens on a weekly or every-other-week schedule.
3. Vacuum Regularly. Vacuuming is one of the quickest ways to give the illusion of a clean home. It also minimizes dust and adds longevity to an expensive part of your home—your carpet and floors.
4. Clean Kitchen and Bathroom Floors. When kitchen and bathroom floors are clean, people will presume you have a clean home. And all you did was keep the crumbs and dirt picked up.
5. Eliminate One “Clutter Pile.” Piles are telltale signs of disorder. How many do you see around your house right now? Conquer one pile per week and soon you’ll regain control.
6. Complete One Project from your “Priority Project List.” Create this priority project list while vacuuming and scrutinizing your home. List no more than ten items, though. Once you have a few crossed off, you can add others.
7. Handle Errands. Whenever possible, do a few errands on your way home from being out. A convenient, quick stop on the way home takes less time than getting up the momentum to go out and tackle a bunch of errands later.
Example Weekly Cleaning System
Monday- Empty wastebaskets
Tuesday -Vacuum traffic areas
Wednesday-Eliminate one “Clutter Pile”
Thursday -Do Errands, i.e.banking & gas
Friday-Clean the kitchen & bathroom floors
Saturday-Change beds & do laundry
Sunday – Free Day
The Benefits of Organizing Your Cleaning
A simple cleaning system gives you:
• a nice-looking home
• more free time
• less stress
It is definitely worth the time to create a system that works for you. Use our 3 x 5 Weekly Chart to create your own routines.

Off of my Chest!

OFF MY CHEST!!

OK so I know I have been away for a little while but I am back. This is going to be my first random rant. I have a few things on my chest that I need to get off ! So here goes.....

1.) Why is it that some people believe God when it is convenient for them?

OK so you choose what you want to believe when you want to believe. That is not cool. At the end of the day be who you are no matter what, but don't offer God just any ole mess and expect him to bless it. If it is your nasty attitude, if your shacked up or you don't want to tithe or whatever your vice is. Be truthful with yourself and God. You are not invisible he can see you and he is not pleased. There is no one sin that out weighs another. Now I am not saying I am perfect by any means of the word but I am truthful with God. When you admit that you are a mess and need work and work to  have a relationship with the father and you strive to do better he honors that.

With that being said do not pray only when you want something or when that is convenient to you. What if God only heard your prayer when he felt like it or it was convenient to him... you would be in a world of trouble. Don't walk around with your potty mouth... eff this and mutha eff that and that stank witch this and that and then turn around with your hand out. Sure God is a sovereign God that reigns on the just and unjust and is faithful to supply your needs but try blessing his name every now and again. Try praying for those who spitefully use you... it builds character and develops your spirit.

2.) Girlfriend, Quit being so dag on thirsty for a man.

I believe the bible says be anxious for nothing...sheesh! I have observed so many horrible situations and seen women date and fall for anything. There should not be room for everyone in your heart and in your home just because they pay you a little attention. Trust God! There is nothing wrong with desiring companionship however it is what you do to get it that may be hurting and not helping. Love yourself and invest in yourself. You do not have to accept just anything a man will offer you just to have a one. Most men can smell a needy woman from a mile away and will take advantage. Recognize your worth and govern yourself accordingly. What you put out into the atmosphere is what you will get in return.

3.) Black Men it is OK to Love Jesus

OK so why does it seem like some brothers get some education and then the feel they are too smart to believe in God? Some believe that you are even brain washed if you are a believer, like someone spoon fed you this religion and you ate it and asked no questions. Like you are a puppet of the white man if you are a Christian. They call Christians hypocrites and are seeking every moment to disprove what we believe in. However they always jump to say something negative about us and what we believe when for the most part most Christians I know are not bible thumping and running around telling everyone they are going hell. however there are good people offering to pray, support, and are even more accepting of other beliefs, more so than the ones calling us hypocrites.... hmmm just saying. It is OK to be smart and believe in God. It takes a strong man to believe and submit to the will of God... I wont judge you in fact I think it is pretty awesome :)

4.) Don't hate appreciate!

It is an  old saying and ever so true. Don't hate, appreciate.  My momma raised me that if you don't have anything nice to say don't say nothing at all. Being a Hater ain't helping. Provide a solution and stop being a problem. Yes it is true someone can disagree with you and not be a hater. It does really take way more muscles to frown than it does to smile.  Smile at someone, say something encouraging or just don't say nothing at all. There is enough mess in the world without you contributing. Be the change you want to see. Live life like it is golden....

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest!

I REFUSE

I refuse to Hold this bag anymore, leave it on the floor by the door
I don't want it anymore

The weight is just too much for me
I do believe in courtesy
But, why leave all this stuff with me? Your baggage is piling up and I can not see!

So when did it ever go from one bag to two?
This I cant compute is it just too much for me to do.

I refuse to hold these bags anymore.
I do implore that I will throw them out of a window or an open door.
I just refuse to hold them anymore.

I'd really rather hold on to you and not these bags but I do contest
Since it is a package deal, letting go is really best!

I refuse to hold this bag anymore!
Pick it up off the floor, take with you and close the door!

Love... The Law of Sowing and Reaping

What is Love anyway? It can be an action word or an emotion that moves you to action... or it can be a  noun that most commonly describes a person, place or a thing. The definition of love takes many forms it is   the object of attachment, devotion, or admiration strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties  it is affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests an assurance of affection unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another. That is according to the Merriam Webster’s dictionary.  If that doesn’t do it for you the bible gives us this description on what love is in 1 Corinthians13:4-8
4Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,
5does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
   6does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
7bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
   8Love never fails;

So now that we know what love is let me tell you what it isn’t! Let us make it plain. According to what we have read.

1.) It is Kind and not jealous... hmmm there is a thought! So does that mean that it is not insensitive and looking to one up you? Perhaps does it mean that someone who loves you seeks to bring joy to your life and is happy for your accomplishments.. rather with or without them?
2.) It does not act unbecomingly, translation like a HOT MESS! Instead it carries itself  in your absense as it would in your presence.
3.) It rejoices with the truth..... Nuff said!!
4.) It bears all things, believes, hopes and endures all things... it never fails! Dare I say that love is sacraficial in nature... not selfish seeking it's own wants and desires above yours but looking instead to protect your heart.

In light of this current season in my life God has proved a point to me. He is not a man that he may lie! If there is something that he has promised you it will come to pass, no matter what your current situation looks like.  Giving up on certain situations is not the same as having faith that he will change the outcome. God is seeking to bless you... it is the very nature of who he is.

If you are or have been with someone who does not reciporcate the love that you have shown them... don't love any less. Loving someone does not mean allowing them to have access to continue to hurt or wrong you, in this know that sometimes loving and letting go is best. Understand that they may have loved you to the capacity to which they understand love to be, it may not have been enough for you at the time or may have even seemed as if they didn't love you at all but trust God to heal you and deal with the rest.

If you have poured into someone consisentently, with your prayers, your love , kindness and support only to feel cheated, it is preparation for your destination. God sees you! In order for you to bare fruit you must be pruned. The process of growth as God is perfecting you is never an easy one and doesn't always feel good  You can not continue to sow goodness, faithfulness, loving-kindness, and gentleness in abundance into anyone or anything and not receive it back. It is not his will and not his way.  With that being said keep on sowing... in due season you shall reap a harvest of you faint not!

He Was!!

Hot off the press :) enjoy!

HE WAS!!

Even more of me than  ever was
Ever more complicated than complicated ever does

He was. Yes he was! It was he.

In love with the very perplexity that is he
Without this experience I'd be lost to the knowledge of what love really be

A beautiful mess and I am embracing every part of what I see.
That was he and that was me
To him I lived the imperfect, perfectly.

He Was. Yes he was! It was he.

Complicated was us yet simple at the same time.
maybe it was just the wrong season there is no reason or rhyme

A love for him so unconditional that defies all logic and is not bound by time
filled with so many emotions by words it is hard to define.

He was. Yes he was! It was he.

Here is a Artisit that I saw on the new artisit spotlight on Bobby Jones  Gospel in like 2006. Here was the song he sang I thought he was pretty awesome.  Can't say that I have seen or heard much from him since... but I think he is rather fantastic.... check him out :)

Count It All Joy

Did it ever occur to you that some jobs, relationships, material possessions, friendships and situations are just for a season in your life. They are not meant for the long term or to stay but to add or subtract something and leave you with a leasson learned. The repeat button has been pushed yet again on this test in my life.

It occurred to me that maybe this is not something that we should toil over, feeling sad as people and possessions or even as positions exit our path. Perhaps we should take a deeper look at what it means and ask ourselves:

*What is God trying to show me through this test?
       * What is God trying to reveal to me about myself in relation to this event?
*What are some things that I could have done differently in the situation?

Dare I say that we should count it all joy when trials come. These uncomfortable moments of being pruned to bear fruit help us to weed out people, places and things that really do not have our best interest at heart.  Count it all joy that we have a saviour who cares enough about us to concern himself with what is troubling us. One who is a guardian of our heart and knows what is best. He is constantly strengthen us through the test and trials of life making us as a tree planted by waters not bending or breaking under the uncertain pressures of life. You have to be tried by fire to come out as gold. This is the part that never feels good but produces fruit and builds character.

Take a step back and evaluate the situation. Were the people, places and things that have recently exited your life building you up or bringing you down? Are they helping or hurting? Lastly ask yourself are you better off without them?

If you are unsure what the purpose is of what you are going through or what God is trying to show you in the grand scheme of things.... just ask! Begin to talk to him and ask him. This open dialogue is referred to as prayer... lol :) and I don't know about you but I don't do it as much as I should so take a crack at it.....

[ Insert prayer here :) ]

Bag Lady!

Just wondering if anyone else out there has felt short changed by someone you love and care about? Do you feel like maybe he or she has been in a bad situation or a bad relationship or just had some plain ole jacked up experiences and you are paying for someone else's mistakes? Maybe you felt you could love them beyond their hurt! Have you sacrificed a lot to not even reap a fraction of the good love, positive energy and time and attention that you sowed into the relationship? Do you feel spiritually exhausted from fighting tooth and nail and hanging on by a thread waiting for this person to live up to even a small percentage of the potential you originally saw in them?

I have been there more times than I care to admit! Maybe you are there now. You feel frustrated all worn out. Maybe you are in a hurting place where you can't even pray for yourself. I thought that when this test came around again that I would sure enough pass it b/c I have been there and done that. We all know the enemy is crafty and he will take the same ole same and dress it up and put a spin on it just to fool you again.Thank God for family and friends that can help to remove the blinders and help you to see more clearly.

Here is the advice my older cousin had to offer:
Hmm, well that's usually how those things go. Word of advice, if it's been this long, there's really nothing to figure out about the whole "us" thing. The only thing you have to do, if you haven't already, is to speak your truth. Your truth comes from your heart and what you want/need as a woman. Once this is spoken, the next question is does he qualify and only you can answer that. Relationships are all about timing. For instance, I love chocolate and when it's that TIME of the month, I crave it...even though I may not need it. Yet at the TIME I want it so bad. On other days, I still like chocolate but I'm able to think clearly and recognize that I may not need it at that TIME. It doesn't mean that sweet chocolate is a bad thing but just at this TIME in my life, given the fact that I want to get in shape, I'll have to limit my chocolate intake. If you're trying to get your life in shape; mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, that "chocolate" is not good for you at that time. Some men are just like that chocolate; sweet, smooth, and such a rush at those times that we want them but they cause us to have extra baggage (weight) when we don't know when to limit our fill of them.
Treat him like that chocolate but never allow him to cause you to have baggage. If he fits into the life that you're shaping, he's worthy, otherwise he is not what you NEED.
So today I own my truth and I accept it! As they say Truth hurts, but it is what it is. I am not bitter I am better with every measure. Thank you cuzzo for the Advice I love you :)

In Her Shadow 01/22/2011

So this is a poem I just wrote yesterday while I was in class...don't judge me...lol and decided to share (I do copyright my work so save yourself the trouble...lol :D ) I normally do not share because I am an artist and I am sensitive about my ish...lol Well here it is hope you enjoy.

In Her Shadow

I know this girl, I am the shadow of her.
I live in that back, do all the work and get no slack, as it were.

I am darker than her, always a step behind.
She doesn't even see she's steppin on me
Her blues just ain't like mine

We dated the same man once but he prefers her over me.
See she is much more fair, and her hair is long and wavy.

She toyed with his emotions and she put him on a shelf.
She made him pay for her misgivings because she barely knows herself.

I attended to his health
Built him an empire of wealth and he'd give it all to her
But if I ask for anything more, I'd be shown the door like I'm a gold digger.

While I love him with everything I got he hangs her over me to show me what I'm not
Capable, but brown all the same
Invisible to him. Does he see me does he even know my name?

I seek to heal his wound and love him to his soul
Instead he seeks her every measure waiting for HER joy to unfold.

She is beauty with no substance, her intentions are not for his care.
She loves him less than me yet he is unaware.

Because I am brown, I must be everything that she is not
Resourceful, charming, witty , Such a pity!
He deems her pretty, so she can get buy with less than half of what I got!

I am brown and she is light, so he holds her as a prize.
But when she's away he wants to stay and it renders me no surprise
In the dark of the day he wants to play between the rise of the brown girls thighs.

In her sight he See's me as average but I must contest!
Your mother was the same shade of brown as me
So i say contrarily, is she second best?

But brown girls we appear invisible at times in the shade of the light!
have you ever felt this way, being this girls shadow has no reason or rhyme.
She is black and so am I but I swear her blues just ain't like mine!

Are you going along to get along?

This morning I couldn't sleep. While channel surfing I came along Jentezen Franklin (please check him out at http://www.jentezenfranklin.org/ I think he is pretty awesome) a preacher from Gainsville GA. In his message he was talking about the power of fasting and how you can really get clear and concise direction from God when you fast.

They say the Lord works in mysterious ways. You have no idea how true this is! I have always been a very visual person so God uses this to minister to me. Jentezen Franklin, was ministering about fasting, from the same place that Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights which was the Judean desert. He pointed out the unbarable heat of the day without shade or covering. He painted the picture of how many could wander almost endlessly with any direction. He spoke to the cold nights of the desert and how Jesus was alone with no one to light a fire for him.

I immediately saw the bigger picture! We as believers are supposed to be the salt of the earth! However I wonder how many of us are in a spiritual desert wandering aimlessly with no direction, no covering, alone and cold b/c we have lost our fire? Are you in this place getting beat down by the elements of this life? Now trust me, this is not a judgemental overly spiritual or preachy thing but it is true. Even the most sanctified and or positive person can grow weary in well doing!

Are you going along to get along? Or are you standing out? I once heard a preacher say at a conference to remember that we as believers are the salt of the earth. As you know salt is very strong and has a pungent taste. Wherever salt has been you know it was there b/c it changes the atmosphere. It melts ice, makes the nasty food bearable, and helps bring slow moving water come to a boil. Simply put it changes things!

Are you in the word moving and shaking? Are you as salt melting cold hearts, making the nastiness of the world bareable and lighting the fire to make slow moving progress come to a boiling point? Do you desire more of what God has for you? I do!

I say all this to say, that sometimes in life you get overwhelmed. It seems at times it is so much easier to go with the grain just to keep your head above water. God sees you and he cares! I believe that sometimes we are in the wilderness b/c God wants to make sure that our Moral compass works correctly. When it hits the fan what or who will you turn to? If you have lost your way or can't seem to find the answer to burning questions that you have, navigate your way back to Jesus. He is always there in the same spot he never left, but he is always doing a new thing. He seeks to bless you but he is simply waiting for your prayer, for your fast and for your worship. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him :)
